The call to Pastor was received by Rev. Arnold E. Lakes Sr. early in the year 2001, after much prayer and discernment of God’s will he talked to his wife about the Call. On September 29th, 2002 a meeting was held with twelve other people at the Abundant Life Training Center 1201 Ballinger Hwy., to discuss starting a new Disciples Congregation in Mt. Morris or Clio area. The name of that church was agreed to be called “New Covenant Christian Church.”
The first worship service was held at the Flint YWCA in room #127,
there was 25 people in attendance. The church remained at this location for one year. Our first baptism was on December 1, 2002, the candidates for baptism were Amber Ward Lakes, and Shaterrika Jones. The first wedding was that of Chantel Lakes and Otis Dickerson on February 14, 2003 at Solid Foundation C.O.G.I.C. performed by Pastor Lakes.
On March 2, 2003. Pastor Lakes himself was Ordained into the order of ministry at the New Testament Christian Church of Flint. The Church relocated to 9384 N. Saginaw Rd. October 2003, and in July of 2004 we were greatly blessed to able to purchase our present edifice. [What a mighty God we Serve] First Lady Lakes was ordained July 13, 2008 this was a great cause for celebration for our church family. The journey has been trying and blissful at same time, God has rewarded us for our diligence by adding souls to the Kingdom and broadening the outlook of purpose for this ministry.
